Description of the Project's Work Packages (WPs)

WP1 – Project management and coordination

This WP is crucial for the achievement of the project's objectives at the financial, organizational and technical level. A crucial role will be played by the establishment of the project monitoring committees with the participation of all partners: A. Project Steering Committee (PSC),  which will be the ultimate decision-making body and will play not only an organizational role, but also an essential role of communication at Program level. B. The Project Management Team (PMT), which will consist of the project managers and technical directors per partner. A series of predetermined meetings (4 in total, one per semester) will lead both to better decision-making and to effective communication between the partners. WP1 will be coordinated by the ΜB, while B2 and B3 will also be involved (participation in PSC, PMT, progress reports).

WP2 – Publicity and information

The purpose of WP 2 is to optimally disseminate and communicate the results to a wide audience and targeted groups.

WP2 includes 5 actions. More specifically:
• Act.1: Development of Communication Strategy.
Deliverables: Communication strategy / dissemination plan

• Act.2: Development of tools / means of dissemination and promotion of the project.
Deliverables: Digital and printed tools for a variety of recipients (Project website, social media pages multilingual presentation, brochures, e-newsletters, articles, factsheets, policy briefs, short report–Layman's Report, etc.) .

• Act.3: Participation in national & international conferences.
    Deliverables: Scientific publications (journals, conferences).

• Act.4: Organization of a Final Conference, 2 Local & 1 Regional Workshop.
✓
Deliverables: Material and organization of a final conference and workshops (4 workshops).

• Act.5: The project's documentary creation.
✓    Deliverable: Informative documentary.

WP2 will be coordinated by the     ΜB, with the participation of B2, B3 (material for Act.2, participation in conferences Act.3, organization of workshops Act.4).

WP3 – Study and Design of units

The purpose of WP 3 is to implement all the required preparatory studies and to make the full design for the application of technologies in the 2 WWTPs:

• Act.1: Collection, recording & analysis of data for the two WWTPs: characteristics and method of processing, quantitative and qualitative data of the WWTPs, outputs, loads, chemical and hydraulic analysis.
Deliverables: Current situation reports (for each WWTP).

• Act.2: Environmental impact assessment.
    Deliverables: EIA (for each WWTP)

• Act. 3: Analysis of techno-economic characteristics of the integration of new technologies in WWTPs Deliverables: Techno-economic studies (for each WWTP)

• Act. 4: General operation and interconnection planning.
Deliverables: Construction Studies (for each WWTP).

WP 3 will be coordinated by the ΜB, in close cooperation with the beneficiaries of the WWTPs. EIAs and Construction Studies will be assigned to external experts/ qualified designers based on national regulations.

WP 4,5 – Implementation innovation - Construction in Pilot area 1 (Greece),  Implementation innovation - Construction in Pilot Area 2 (Cyprus)

WP 4, WP 5 have common objectives, they differ only in the area of application (WP 4: Greece-WWTP Marpissa /WP 5: Cyprus- WWTP Kyperounda). Their goal is to upgrade each WWTP in the 1st year and optimize the performance of the system.

• Act.1: Supply of equipment: Writing of tender documents, call for tenders for the supply of equipment.
Deliverables: Procurement notices of the Marpissa WWTP (PE 4), Kyperounda WWTP (WP 5), ΜB (WP 4,5).

• Act. 2: Construction & monitoring of interventions: Technologies will be implemented  to the WWTPs, the required construction projects, their development will be monitored. All parameters will be optimized, reuse of reclaimed water for irrigation, proposals for sludge management.
Deliverables: Interim construction supervision report for each WWTP, Final autopsy report for each WWTP.

• Act. 3: Evaluation of technologies and operation of WWTP
Deliverables: Monitoring & keeping track of critical indicators (technical, environmental, socio-economic) after the implementation of new technologies.

• Act. 4: Sensitivity analysis (% sludge reduction, % BOD5 reduction, biosolids characteristics, energy & cost savings, etc.).
Deliverables: Technical evaluation in Marpissa (WP 4) & Kyperounda (WP 5).

WP 4 will be coordinated by B2, WP 5 by B3. Active participation of the ΜB in all 2 WP (Act.1,2, coordination Act.3)

WP6 – Capitalization and Expansion of results

The ANELXI PROJECT's WP 6 focuses on capitalizing and expanding on results. The following actions will be carried out within the framework of WP 6:

• Act. 1: Development of a Decision-Making Tool (DMT Software): The goal of DMT is to guide the selection of the best solution for any WWTP (based on environmental, technical, economic criteria).
    Deliverables: DMT Software & Manual.

• Act. 2: Capitalization and scalability of technologies: A study will be carried out for the expansion of technologies in other regions and WWTPs. The experiences of the participants and the implementation interest from other WWTPs will be gathered.
Deliverables: Transferability / repeatability analysis of the project.

WP 6 will be coordinated by the ΜB, B2, B3 will also participate (DMT, Act. 1 evaluation, questionnaires for Act. 2).
